Subject: [dvd-discuss] DMCA exemption - NAGware
Too bad I didn't think of this before..NAGWARE...you know those stupid popups that come up periodically that want to remind you to register software that either you don't want to register it because you don't want the spam or junkmail or you have registered it but the stupid popup is timed to pop up every month until you remember to tell it not to (e.g., Mathtype). Is that popup an access control to a copyrighted work? When I legally own it or they have a bug that keeps ignoring registration, am I entitled to circumvent and patch their code?
Of course, this begins to get into the whole "they hacked my game" issue...
