not at all tongue-in-cheek. the past 20 years or so have seen a
redefinition of western society, from "we are the democratic/free
world" to "we are the capitalist/rich world".
IMF, WTO and Worldbank are the strongest international institutions
today. the UN is a paper tiger. capitalism lives, democracy is dead.
